Meguro River runs through Setagaya, Meguro, and Shinagawa City of Tokyo, and is famous for cherry blossom viewing spot in Tokyo.
About 800 cherry trees are planted along the Meguro River, and before the outbreak of the new coronavirus (COVID-19), about 3 million people from Japan and abroad visited the area every year when the cherry trees were in bloom.
Nakameguro Cherry Blossom Festival
The Nakameguro Cherry Blossom Festival has been postponed for the past three years due to the new coronavirus (COVID-19), but will be held for the first time in four years from March 19 (Tuesday) to 31 (Sunday), 2024.
During the “Nakameguro Cherry Blossom Festival” some sections near Nakameguro Station and Ikejiri-Ohashi Station will be illuminated from 17:00 to 20:00.
The cherry blossoms and Bonbori Lanterns (Japanese lantern) on both banks of the Meguro River will be illuminated, creating a fantastic sight.
Also food and beverages will be sold at stores facing the Meguro River.

Note that the “Nakameguro Cherry Blossom Festival” is extremely crowded during the festival period, so we recommend avoiding weekends and holidays if possible.
Since the nearest stations to the Meguro River, Nakameguro, Ikejiri-Ohashi, and Meguro Stations, are only one stop away from Shibuya Station, why not visit during the cherry blossom season?
